Parkway
Community Church has a desire to do a better job at reaching the members
of its surrounding community through social services, ministry, education,
and entertainment. The church is further in need of improved facilities
for its youth and children’s ministries, as well as its preschool.
By building the DFLC, Parkway will be able to improve quality, and be
able to offer a greater variety of social service projects, as well
as to minister more effectively to the current and incoming youth and
children.
The
ability of Parkway to provide ministry to God and others will be accomplished
in the new building in two different ways. First, by providing enhanced
worship facilities for both the youth and children’s departments,
the church’s capability to minister to God is enhanced, as well.
Second, by having these meeting facilities available, Parkway will also
be able to better minister to the needs of the community.
Parkway
has plans for new areas of community service that, without the building,
have not been possible before. Some of these areas are:
*
Health Screening For Senior Citizens
* A Place For Public Immunizations
* A Site For United Blood Services Blood Drives
* Recovery Group And Counseling Sessions
* A Staging Area For A Local Cancer Walk
Some
other areas of community services that Parkway already participates
in can be greatly improved by having a larger facility available. These
are:
*
Voting Poll Sites
* Community Education Courses
* Leadership Training For Corporate Executives
* Marriage Enrichment Seminars
In
addition, the facilities could also be used by the community for sports
and entertainment purposes such as basketball, volleyball, and dodge
ball leagues.
These
are just a small sample of the community services that will become possible
by the construction of the Diffie Family Life Center. Our hope is to
use the building as a tool to reach out to the community and give them
a place where they can experience worship, fun, family, and community.
